Need a hand?
Portside Games is a one-person studio, so your email goes straight to the person who wrote the game. No ticket numbers, no bots, no phone tree.
We aim to reply within a few business days. If you don't hear back within a week, please send it again — occasionally mail goes astray.
What to send us
Any of these helps, but the first two do most of the work. The more of it you can include, the faster we can reproduce what you saw.
Your seed and class
The single most useful thing for a bug report. The seed regenerates the exact same wreck on our machines, so we can walk to the spot where it went wrong. Both are shown in the Journal entry for the run.
What happened
What you did, what you expected, and what the game did instead. If you can describe the last few turns before it went wrong, even roughly, that usually cracks it.
Device and versions
Which device (iPhone 15 Pro, iPad Air, MacBook Air, and so on), the iOS or macOS version, and the game's version number from under the title-screen buttons.
A screenshot or recording
Worth a thousand words for anything visual — a sprite in the wrong place, text running off the edge, an achievement that didn't fire.
Common questions
My run disappeared / the game started a new run
The game keeps one run at a time, and it's cleared as soon as that run ends — that's permadeath working as intended. Starting a new run also replaces any run in progress. If a run vanished while it was still very much alive, that's a bug and we'd like to hear about it: send the seed and class from your Journal.
My achievements aren't showing up in Game Center
The game always tracks achievements on your device first, so your progress isn't lost. Game Center syncing needs you to be signed in — check Settings → Game Center — and needs a working connection. If the in-game Achievements screen shows a badge that Game Center doesn't, let us know.
I can't lift a weapon I just found
Weapons and armour have a strength requirement. If yours is too low you can still carry the item, but you won't get the best out of it. Potions of strength raise your limit permanently. The Harpooner is the exception — they can throw gear that's too heavy for them to swing.
Something is stuck to my hand and I can't unequip it
That's a curse, and it's deliberate. Cursed gear welds itself on until it's cleansed — you'll need the scroll for it. Consider it a lesson about equipping unidentified equipment on a deep deck.
The game is too fast, too shaky, or too loud
The gear icon on the title screen opens Settings. There you can set animation speed to Slow, Normal, Fast or Instant, and switch off screen shake, damage numbers, haptics and sound effects independently. Turn off screen shake if motion bothers you. Animation speed and sound take effect from your next run.
My controller or keyboard isn't doing anything
Pair the device in the Settings app first, then return to the game — a small controller glyph appears in the top corner when the game sees a pad. Note that using, throwing and zapping items is intentionally left on the touchscreen, since those need you to tap a target.
How do I delete everything the game has stored?
Delete the app. Your settings, journal, achievements and any run in progress live only on your device and go with it. Nothing of yours is held on our side — see the privacy policy.
I have an idea for the game
Send it. Small studio, short path from a good suggestion to a build — several things in the game started as somebody's email.
